Merujuk perkara di atas, kami, dari pihak Scholarships 4 STPM mempunyai beberapa persoalan yang ingin dikemukakan kepada pihak Tuan.

1) Adakah pelajar lepasan STPM yang telah diberi tempat di Universiti Tempatan (kursus perubatan) layak untuk memohon biasiswa JPA?

2) Bolehkah pelajar-pelajar STPM memohon biasiswa JPA untuk melanjutkan pelajaran ke Universiti di luar negara?

According to the email from Mr Shahrezan, from the Human Capital Development Division (Bahagian Pembangunan Modal Insan), Public Service Department of Malaysia (JPA),he has stated that the application for JPA scholarship 2011 will be happening in the month of August, 2011.

Scholarship will only be awarded to those who applied and matches the criteria set by the department. Interested applicants may visit

Before I reached your blog, I'd already known this morning that JPA offered the scholarships to "pelajar cemerlang." However, I wasn't one of those recipients. My e-mail to JPA inquiring about it failed to deliver as postmaster notified that their inboxes are full.

JPA Scholarship for STPM

Scholars for the JPA scholarship are informed starting yesterday via phone by the officers in the Public Service Department. The selection criteria remains unknown but the reason behind this secretive move was believed to avoid chaos and over publicity like the previous JPA scholarship for SPM leavers.

It is hoped that the department still practices open application for those who are interested to apply. However, the possibility of the previous tradition to be continued remains uncertain.

PETALING JAYA: A total review of the Public Service Department (PSD) scholarship policy will be conducted next year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the review would include whether to “reserve” scholarship offers for top scorers at university-entry level and providing small bursaries for SPM-level students for them to undertake pre-university courses such as STPM, matriculation or A-levels.

“We will work out a new policy next year,” he said on Thursday during the one FM Morning Kaki radio show.

His son, Nor Ashman also appeared on the show.

Tanjong Scholarship Awards

The Tanjong Scholarship Awards (TSA) are open to financially needy and academically deserving Malaysian students to pursue full-time degree programmes in any discipline at public universities in Malaysia.
Funded by Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tanjong, the TSA 2011 are open to Malaysian citizens who have obtained 4 principals with a minimum of 3As in their STPM 2010 examination, or completed Matriculation Programme for the 2010/2011 session with a minimum CGPA of 3.5. Applicants who are active in sports and/or co-curricular activities would have an added advantage.
The value of each award is between RM8,000 and RM9,000 per academic year for the minimum period required to complete the course of study.
There is no bond attached to the Scholarship. However, as part of the Group's efforts to develop its human capital, scholars will be given preference in respect of employment opportunities within the Group upon their graduation.

Tanjong scholars are also provided with personal development training in the areas of leadership, communication, teamwork and creativity as well as working attachments in various departments within the Group during their study breaks in the first year.
Application for the TSA 2011 is now open. Details of the scholarship awards are available from the advertisement published in major newspapers in Malaysia between 19 May and 22 May 2011.

Closing date for submission of application form is Friday, 10 June 2011. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1 – I have just completed Form 5 and achieved 10As in the recent SPM Examination. Am I eligible to apply for this scholarship?

A1 – No, you must have at least completed your STPM or Diploma level and enrolled for a full-time degree programme in any Local Malaysian Public Universities.

Q2 – I am awaiting result/offer into any local Public Universities and the closing date for this scholarship is approaching, can i wait for the offer before submitting the application to IGB?

A2 – We suggest you submit the application to us stating your first and second choice of course on or before the closing date and later mail us the official/online-printed offer letter once you have received it.

Q3 – I am pursuing my degree in a local university i.e. MMU, UNITEN, UTP etc. Can I apply?

A3 – No, this scholarship is open only to student enrolled in any full-time degree programme in Local Malaysian Public Universities i.e. UM, UPM, USM, UKM, UTM etc.

Q4 – Will I be bonded by the company upon the completion my studies?

A4 – Yes, the company will offer you employment opportunities upon the completion of your studies for a period of 2 years but if there are no vacancies available, students are free to seek employment elsewhere after a stipulated period of time.

Q5 – How will I receive the full scholarship value of RM40,000 ?

A5 – All school fees and any other fees including hostel accommodation (if applicable) shall be paid directly by the company to your respective university. In addition, you will be also receiving RM350 monthly for your living expenses. You may also purchase books and stationery item for study purpose up to a maximum of RM500 per year.

Q6 – I’m currently in Year 3 and shall complete my course in another year, am I still eligible to apply?

A6 – Yes, you are still eligible to apply for scholarship irregardless whether you are in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even final year of studies. However, you current CGPA will be taken into consideration besides your STPM results.

Q7 – What is the other criteria used for selecting students to be awarded this scholarship?

A7 – The students’ leadership qualities/character, active participation in extra curricular/ sports activities, family income and background etc. will be some of the factors to be considered.

Q8 – How many students will be awarded this scholarship?

A8 – In the past, IGB in collaboration with Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Foundation has provided between 5 to 10 Full Scholarship Awards. One-time Cash Grant shall also be given out for deserving and needy students.

Q9 – Can I apply for this scholarship if I am currently receiving PTPTN loan, which I need to repay upon completion of my studies?

(a) Syarat Asas

(c) Syarat Tambahan

(i) Penerima BIASISWA TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN diperlukan berkhidmat untuk negara sekurang-kurangnya lima (5) tahun selepas tamat pengajian yang ditaja.

(iii) Elaun Buku bernilai RM500 / semester.

MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND, a fund established by MNRB HOLDINGS BERHAD (a Company listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)), invites scholarship applications from young Malaysians planning to persue tertiary on a full-time basis at any recognised institution of higher learning.

Value of Award

Tuition fees based on actual for students in public universities or colleges and a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students in private universities or colleges. The actual tuition fees are paid for overseas studies.
Allowance of RM8,000 per annum for local Matriculation/Foundation or Diploma courses and
RM10,000 per annum for First Degree courses.

Overview
The Khazanah-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Merdeka Scholarships, established to mark the 50th anniversary of Malaysia's independence, are intended to enable outstanding Malaysian students to undertake postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.
Subject areas may be drawn from a range of fields. Candidates are required to demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, and how their study will make a contribution to the future needs of Malaysia.
Awards will include University and College fees, accommodation and subsistence allowances, and return air fares. Awards are renewable annually through the duration of the programme of study.

Eligibility
1.Citizens of Malaysia
2. Have an excellent record of academic achievement and a proven capacity for independent research.
3. Attention will also be given to leadership potential and ability to communicate.

4. Candidates will be expected to show how their careers and the wider interests of Malaysia will benefit from a period of study at Oxford.

Bursa Malaysia Scholarships Scheme

Each recipient of the Bursa Malaysia Scholarship Programme received an allowance as well as a laptop to aid them during their course of study, especially for research and work assignments.

After the students graduate, they will participate in a two-year practical training programme in Bursa Malaysia which will give them an exposure to the various jobs available at the exchange.

Good communication skills
Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and potential
Actively involved in extra-curricular activities and sporting events
Candidates with at least a conditional offer from universities as specified by Yayasan Sime Darby will be given FIRST priority. Scholarship will only be effective upon receiving firm offer.

AMCHAM-MACEE 2009 Scholarship

INTRODUCTION

The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) are pleased to announce the competition for the AMCHAM-MACEE 2009 Scholarship. AMCHAM created a scholarship endowment program in 1998 to benefit deserving Malaysian students planning to pursue their undergraduate studies in the United States. The AMCHAM-MACEE 2009 Scholarship awards a US$20,000 scholarship, covering four years of undergraduate study in the United States ($5000.00/year renewable for four years subject to meeting the specified conditions). The scholarship is open to qualified Malaysian students who are accepted to an accredited university in the United States for four years of study culminating in a Bachelors degree. The student must be accepted for Fall semester, 2009.

ELGIBILITY

Malaysian Students who have completed SPM, O Levels, STPM or A Levels.
Secondary school results must be translated into English, certified as ta true copy and submitted with the application.
TOEFL and SAT scores must be submitted, IF they are required by the U.S. university to which the student is applying to.
Two letters of recommendation.
Certified copy of IC or Malaysian Passport.
Prior acceptance into U.S. university/college.
Certified copy of acceptance letter or certified copy of I-20 from U.S. university/college

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES

The application for admission and all supporting documents must be received by May 30, 2009, to be considered for the Fall 2009 award. All documents must be official. You may mail them or hand-deliver them to MACEE.

Korean Government Scholarship undergraduate Studies in Korea

The Government of the Republic of Korea is offering scholarship for at least six Malaysian students in order to support their undergraduate studies in Korea.

The scholarship serves to promote education exchanges and friendship between Malaysia and Korea. Last year, the Korean government awarded scholarship to seven Malaysians for undergraduate degree course and forty two for graduate degree course.

The scholarship covers five-year-studies in Korea comprising

one year of Korean language course and
four years of undergraduate course.

roundtrip airfare,
monthly allowances (about RM2,500),
settlement allowance,
repatriation allowance,
language training expenses,
medical insurance as well as
full tuition fees.

The applicants must be under 25 years old who have finished or are scheduled to finish a total of 12 years formal education as of 1 March 2009.

Applicants should possess a food command of English and be willing to promote amicable relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea.

VALUE OF AWARD

Tuition fees based on actual for students pursuing studies at public universities or colleges and
a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students pursuing studies at private universities or
colleges. The actual tuition fees are paid for overseas studies.
Allowance of RM8,000.00 per year for local Matriculation/Foundation or Diploma courses and
RM10,000.00 per year for First Degree or Professional courses. For overseas studies, adequate
living and relocation allowances will be given.

A bonding period is attached to the scholarship, where the recipient may be required to serve the MNRB Group or any of the companies designated by the Trustees of the MNRB Scholarship Fund.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The applicant: -

Should be below 23 years of age.
Should have obtained at least grade 2A in a minimum of 6 subjects inclusive of English, Mathematics and Science in the SPM examination results; OR
Should obtained at least 3As and pass the General Paper at the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination; OR
Should obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 for Diploma or Matriculation
Must have proof of financial needs.
Must write a short 1page essay (in English and on a separate sheet of paper) describing reasons for applying the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education and career plans.
Preference will be given to those active in co-curricular activities.
Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organisation.
Employees working in the local insurance industry or their children are encouraged to apply.

The offer is subject to the applicants gaining entry into the recognised local institute of higher learning to pursue the approved courses.

TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS

Candidates with TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS, who meet the above mentioned selection criteria are also encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Selected candidates will be given provisional offer of the scholarship to pursue the approved courses subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within acceptable range.

MNRB Scholarship Awards
In early 1965, the Malaysian Government conceived the idea of forming a national reinsurance company in order to curtail the ever increasing reinsurance premium overseas. A feasibility study on the formation of such a company was done in 1971 and on 30 December 1972, Malaysian National Reinsurance Berhad known as MNRB, was incorporated under the Companies Act 1965. It commenced operations on 19 February 1973. Effective 5 April 2005, as part of the restructuring exercise of MNRB Group, the reinsurance business, reinsurance licence and reinsurance assets, up to a net amount of RM400 million, were transferred from MNRB to Malaysian Re.
Pursuant to the restructuring, MNRB is now an investment holding company and was renamed as MNRB Holdings Berhad.

Make sure you:

Should be below 23 years of age.
Should obtain at least grade 2A for a minimum of 6 subjects inclusive of English, Mathematics and Science at the SPM examination; OR
Should obtain at least 3As and passed the General Paper at the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination; ORShould obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 for Diploma or Matriculation.
Must have proof of financial needs.
Must write a short 1-page essay (in English and on a separate sheet of paper) describing reasons for applying the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education and career plans.
Preference will be given to those involved in co-curricular activities.
Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organisation.
Employees working in the local insurance/takaful industry or their children are encouraged to apply.
The offer is subject to the applicants gaining entry into the recognised local institute of higher learning to pursue the approved courses.
Candidates with SPM/STPM TRIAL RESULTS, who meet the above mentioned selection criteria are also encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be given a provisional offer subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within an acceptable range.
